The Henry Luce Foundation sponsors the Luce scholarship programs. Henry Luce foundation aim is to bring up awareness of Asia among the potential leaders in American society. Part of this initiative, Luce foundation launched Henry Luce scholarship in 1974. This scholarship program mainly aimed at highly qualified young Americans at various professional courses, who is studying in American universities/colleges.
The Scholarship program provides stipend and Asian language training for selected American students. And also it provides professional placement in top Asian education institutions and organizations. This Luce scholarship program is limited to fifteen to eighteen young American students each year.
Luce scholarship candidates are nominated from over seventeen colleges and universities across United States. Eligible colleges/universities should submit applications for their students by early November each year. The Luce foundation will not accept the applications from individual candidates.
Eligibility for Luce scholarship program
Only candidates from America can apply to this scholarship program, and candidate must be graduate degree holder. And also candidate age should be less than or equal to 30 years. Apart from these, nominees should have outstanding leadership ability and good records of achievements. Candidates who already have significant amount of experience in Asia or Asian education are not eligible for Luce scholars program.
